When I plug a device for the first time in an Xfce session, browse it, then umount/eject the media, the notification popup appears. The next times I do this (in the same session), the popup doesn't show up, even if it's an other media which is used. Where should I look to have informations about what happens?
The unmount notification?
Yes.
Hm, exo-eject/exo-unmount use the exo-mount-notify-0.3 utility for this. But I don't see why it should fail to spawn that a second time.
I've just tested on an other installation (up to date ubuntu feisty), and the behavior is slightly different but still not the one expected. The notification worked each time I ejected a cd, but unmounting a digital camera didn't show the notification.
You replace the exo-mount-notify-0.3 with a shell script that logs the parameters to see what happens (i.e. rename exo-mount-notify-0.3 to exo-mount-notify-0.3.real, create a shell script that prints $* to ~/notify.log and execs the real binary).
The notification window seem to not show up when no action has been made on the device. For instance: - plug an USB stick for the first time, open it in thunar, then umount it -> the nofification appear, - re-mount and then unmount it, no notification, - mount it again, `touch` a file, unmount it, the notification works. HTH
Was exo-mount-notify-0.3 executed in the second case?
No.

Hm, I still cannot reproduce this one, sorry. I really don't know what could be wrong here.
I can confirm this bug.
Jannis, is this one still relevant? I think we can close it.
I think we can close it. A lot has changed here, so I'm confident that this bug has been fixed. Please re-open if it still occurs in Thunar >= 1.1.1.
