Hi ! Using xubuntu 13.04, ppa xfce 4.10 + 4.12, parole 5.90. The subtitles are systematically on, without any ways to switch them off. The subtitle menu seems to have no effect whatsoever. I tested with several mkv files, same issue. Thanks !
There is a known issue with MKV files ignoring the subtitle settings. However, would you mind checking if the problem exists with totem as well?
I installed totem 3.8.2, and it was possible to toggle on/off the subtitles. I must add that this behaviour is "new" with parole. For previous versions, the default settings for subtitles were indeed not working, but at least selecting a subtitle stream or None would change things, whereas now nothing happens. I could use it before although it was a tiny bit tiresome, but now it's unusable for my purpose ... Thanks anyway for looking into it !!
Well this one is obviously a duplicate and a rather longish standing issue that I hope we can resolve before the 0.6-release (with a backported fix for the 0.5 series). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 9880 ***
I'm not certain it's obvious ... The bug mentioned before is related to the default settings for showing or not the subtitles, which was not taken into account, but changing the sub track actually worked before (up to 0.5.9 excluded), which is not even the case anymore. So it might all be related (I'm definitely not an expert), or it might be 2 bugs, which first enables automatically the subs whatever the defaults are, and then make it impossible to change them from the menu. Anyway, I'll be happy if the fix you have fixes both issues :) Cheers
