Similar to the BSD implementation - for which code exists already - we need an implementation of the volume manager interface for SysV Unices and Linux. The implementation should be straight forward and should support Linux 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6, as well as a bunch of Unix systems (you can have a look at the xffm fstab code for an example of how to preserve compatibility with atleast some unix systems). The implementation is not allowed to rely on special system services (e.g. HAL), but must work OOTB on all target systems.
Any thoughts on this? Or leave it to the distribution guys 'n gals?
