Created attachment 4846 Screenshot Thunar 1.6.2git-2d40555. I just copy some file from sftp, one from files changed. Also copying was paused by connection error and then i press "reperat". When copying will be stopped, thunar calc elapsed time incorrectly (>1000 hours, see screenshot).
Full size of copied files = 5.6 GB
I can confirm that this happens. It seems like what is happening is that if Thunar has to retry a file it will count all the bytes it already transfered twice. This allows bytes transfered to exceed total size of files to be copied. Then bytes remaining becomes negative. But the display is unsigned, so it just prints a really huge number instead.
Created attachment 5533 Screenshot showing the problem
