(XFCE 4.10 on Xubuntu 12.10) In the thunar-volman GUI, "Browse removable media when inserted" is enabled. On the (applications menu) > Settings Manager > Preferred Applications > Utilities tab, "File Manager" is set to something other than Thunar. (I selected Nautilus.) When a removable volume is inserted, and then XFCE auto-mounts & auto-browses the volume, the file manager used for the auto-browse is always Thunar, instead of what the user selected.
The bug happens when in the thunar-volman GUI, "Browse removable media when inserted" is enabled. Too, on the (applications menu) > Settings Manager > Preferred Applications > Utilities tab, "File Manager" is set to something other than Thunar. (I selected Nautilus.) When a removable volume is inserted, and then XFCE auto-mounts & auto- browses the volume, the file manager used for the auto-browse is always Thunar, instead of what the user selected. Since xfce permits to select different file managers besides the standard one, thunar, a drop down list should be presented in thunar-volman in order to permit the user to manage the volumes with their preferred file manager
Hah, interesting configuration, so you are running a thunar daemon in the background, featuring thunar-volman, just to open some other file-manager :P Note that this service will be gone, if you should choose to uninstall thunar. But yes, valid point that the default file-manager should be used ... this is easy to fix, just give me a moment.
Created attachment 8093 fix added patch (dont have push access for thunar-volman yet)
Alexander Schwinn referenced this bugreport in commit 608dd1d0ae60e58080d18d423ca6024354bc24f8 Autobrowse of removable media opens Thunar, not the user-selected file manager (bug #9537) https://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar-volman/commit?id=608dd1d0ae60e58080d18d423ca6024354bc24f8
