Currently Notes is incompatible with dark themes. Although it allows changing background colour, it always assumes that this background will be flashy light since the font will always stay the same: black. If you select 'Gtk style' background in Note and then select a dark Gtk theme (say, Darklooks or Xfce-dusk), then with a dark font color the text is almost unreadable, either the tab names or the tab content. See attached shot. I would suggest that Notes should either allow the user to manually change the colour of the font, or when choosing 'GTK style' backround Notes should choose a theme-suggested colour for the font.

I was about to report a bug for this feature, but I found that the issue was already reported. #9487 is a similar bug (for xfce4-datetime-plugin), and a patch has been provided for that. Perhaps it could be ported to fix this bug?
