I have recently switched from ubuntu to xubuntu with xfce V4.8, hozever I was missing badly to be able to switch between different keyboard layouts. So I was glad to fin XKB, however I have problems installing. ./configure gives at the end an error message: checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.6.0... not found *** The required package gtk+-2.0 was not found on your system. *** Please install gtk+-2.0 (atleast version 2.6.0) or adjust *** the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you *** installed the package in a nonstandard prefix so that *** pkg-config is able to find it. as far as I can see from the packages manager the installed version of libgtk2.0-0 is 2.24.6-0ubuntu5, so supposing that 24>6 this should be OK My system is a clean install, so everything should be in the standard place. I tried to check the PKG_CONFIG_Path variable, but I cannot find it. I'm quite a beginner with linux and especially XFCE, so I would appreciate a little help thanks in advance Oli
I just discovered that the web page at http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-xkb-plugin is not up to date as it says that the latest version is 5.4.1, whereas here : http://archive.xfce.org/src/panel-plugins/xfce4-xkb-plugin/0.5/ and in the bug tracking the latest version seems to be 5.4.3 HOWEVER, I still have the same problem Oli
Hello. Please try to use package that comes from Ubuntu repository (apt-get install xfce4-xkb-plugin). If you need still compile package from sources, you'll need dev-packages. In case gtk+-2.0 you need install libgtk2.0-dev package.
OK. great, thanks, I used the ubuntu repository and was able to install. Oli
