$ rpm -qa \*notes\* xfce4-notes-plugin-1.7.7-1.el6.x86_64 Hi, Disaster struck. Moused over and highlighted my weeks schedule by accident. When I reached back to grab my mouse, I struck a key. And poof! No schedule. When I right clicked, I found no undo key. I dove into the ~/.local/share/notes to try and catch Notes before it overwrote, but I was too late. And, no .bak file. Disaster. I eventually got the schedule without the days and times back from my previous night's "dump". Had to do a lot of head scratching to get back the days and times. What a disaster. So far, no one has called to complain about a missed appointment. Would you please consider implementing the following feature? 1) when writing info to the notes files, please do a .bak file 2) please implement an "undo" in the "right click" context menu. (I wouldn't mind if you gave about four levels of undo.) Notes has become a critical piece of software for me. I really need the above functionality. Many thanks, -T
Undo functionnality exists, and is bound to the shortcut Ctrl+Z. It currently appears in the window menu (click the top-left corner icon of the window note). I will add it to the right click context menu (amongst other items) in the future.
Keeping the bug open, I will see what can be done for automatic backups too.
My view is that Notes should perform automatic backups by itself (just as Orage doesn't): The user should take care of this with some external application. Personally I use SpiderOak to make automatic backups of ~/.local/share/notes/. (SpiderOak is similar to Dropbox but more flexible and more generous.)
(In reply to comment #3) > My view is that Notes should perform automatic backups by itself (just as > ..should *not* perform..
I use cron + git + Bitbucket.org for auto-backup
