Usually one can navigate using arrow keys, return, backspace, etc. and do some things using shortcuts such as ctrl+c or F2.

One can quickly find a file by typing its name: For me typing "fort" will mark my "fortran" directory. But then keyboard navigation and things like ctrl+c or F2 are not available. One has to use the mouse to continue, which is inconvenient.

You do not have to use mouse to continue; you can use Esc key.

When I press Enter, nothing happens. Thunar should at lest enter the folder or open the file on Enter (like Nautilus, Nemo and others). Perssing Esc is an annoying overhead.

Enter works fine here. It opens the selected folder. Also, the search box is automatically hidden after 5 seconds without further input.

Tested with Thunar 1.8.14.
