Created attachment 3944 Shows Thunar slowly loading a public AFS directory. Thunar is currently not able to navigate AFS directories in the usual view. Instead of viewing the files and folders in my AFS folder, it hangs for several minutes. This seems to be quite clearly a bug rather than a design problem because the problem does *not* occur using the alternate Thunar interface that's accessed from "Save As..." dialogs and so forth. For example, if I click "Save" on this web page in Firefox, I can navigate AFS folders smoothly. If it's any help, this problem popped up (although less seriously) in Nautilus 3, and it was not a problem in Nautilus 2. I have not tested it with previous versions of Thunar. In the attached image, Thunar is shown hanging while trying to load a public directory that can be accessed by any AFS user.
Please retry with an up-to-date version of thunar (and gvfs stuff). Feel free to reopen if necessary.
