places-plugin used is 1.2 My Preferred file manager is PCManFM. I have tested "exo-open" in the shell and it is opening PCManFM, The AppMenu-plugin is also doing this right. My Distro is Sabayon7. https://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=25687
The fix for this is in bug 6663 comment 7 or 9.
Sorry, actually it's bug 5754 comment 4. /me is confused.
Created attachment 4600 Use the preferred filemanager This patch is from https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5754 and has been updated to apply to the current git tree.
Fixed in release 1.4.0 (with a slightly different patch).
Using: Linux Mint 13 Maya (LTS) Places-plugin 1.2.0-3+ppa2 (stock from clean Mint install) exo-utils 0.8.0-0ubuntu1~ppa1 (stock from clean Mint install) I have installed the "dolphin" file manager through the Synaptic package manager and selected it in the "exo-preferred-applications" panel instead of Thunar. Dolphin has become the default file manager everywhere except in the xfce places panel plugin. Thunar still comes up when selecting any folder in the "places" panel. http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-places-plugin#releases says this was fixed in 1.2 with bug #4463, but "preferred applications" is not honored in "places" even though "dolphin" is selected there. The previous comment from 2012 says it was fixed in release 1.4.0, but I can't find this release anywhere. Thanks.
This error has been fixed in 1.4.0. The newest version is 1.6.0: http://archive.xfce.org/src/panel-plugins/xfce4-places-plugin/1.6/xfce4-places-plugin-1.6.0.tar.bz2 If you really need this feature you may want to contact your distributor, upgrade the distribution or compile the plugin from source code (the above file).
Mass-reassign all bugs from florian@ to goodies-dev@, thanks for the maintenance work! (and sorry for the bugmail spam..)
