Recently, every time I start xfdesktop it basically sits there and eats up every bit of RAM and CPU that my computer has. I'm currently running Arch Linux with xfce4.8 and xfdesktop 4.8.3. This only started recently, so I'm thinking it might be something with the 4.8.3 release. If I try running xfdesktop from a terminal, I get the following error messages followed by my computer slowing down so much that the mouse pointer (in addition to everything else everything else) lags dramatically until I kill xfdesktop: xfdesktop[23728]: starting up (xfdesktop:23728): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_uint: assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_UINT (value)' failed (with the last message repeated multiple times) It doesn't even look like it gets to drawing the desktop - the desktop is just grey, just like it is without xfdesktop.
Does this still happen? This should be fixed in xfdesktop 4.10 at least.
Marking resolved, feel free to reopen if it's still happening in 4.10.
