Sorry for the terrible summary as well as what will probably be a terrible description. This is *always* reproducible here, but it occurs often enough to be *very* annoying (as I have to rearrange the icons afterward). Sometimes when logging in, I get a very jumbled icon grouping, with lots of duplicate icons, on my desktop, and the following message appears in a series of 2-5 popup dialogs: "Failed to load the desktop folder \n File enumerator has outstanding operation" That string appears to come from glib, so maybe the problem is there, but note that I'm using 2.28.8 here (and the bug has occurred through several versions of glib). Alternatively, perhaps xfdesktop is using glib in a way that it's not expecting, or maybe it's none of the above and I'm just speculating out of my ass. :) Here is a screenshot of what the desktop looks like when this occurs: http://rlworkman.net/xfce48-badicons.jpg Here's a screenshot of roughly what it looked like before that occurred (note that the icons might have had their actual positions interchanged - this screenshot was taken after I fixed them back): http://rlworkman.net/xfce48-goodicons.jpg FWIW, no idea why the black boxes show up around the systray icons - they don't appear like that on the desktop; they're only like that in the pictures...
Interesting, does this still happen?
Oh wow, I'd completely forgotten about this. No, it does not still happen, and I don't recall when it stopped :/
