Hi all, == Background == I'm a terminal user, I know how to cd to stuff and I alsmost always use a terminal to browse files on my own computer: in the case, it is just easier to "Ctrl+t" and browse than open Thunar/Nautilus to find what I want. But for work, I use a complexe directory tree in remote linux clusters. This tree is determined by the type of calculations I'm doing: it's an easy way to know where I am, what I am doing, etc. The problem is that using a terminal to cd/vim/less/diff/run_calc into folders is a *real* pain (long folder names very similar from eauch other)... I scripted the most I could but I still have to follow calculations from time to time, compare results, run scripts, etc. Up to now, I used to do it with Nautilus: just click on Nautilus bookmark to connect to the interesting remote scratch folder and then browse the directories (with long and quite similar names) to look at file content and "right clic > open remote terminal" to work in these directories. == Issue == Lack of a "open terminal in remote location" capability in Thunar when used with SFTP. == Expected behaviour == 1) Open remote SFTP location with Thunar 2) Browse directories 3) Right clic (or similar) 4) Open a terminal connected by SSH to the corresponding remote directory
The sendto actions, those created through desktop files (${XDG_DATA_HOME/DIRS}/Thunar/sendto/*.desktop), are also missing.
This is still present. Basically, remote filesystems lack the "open terminal here" button, custom actions, and some other things. All despite the fact that these files are "locally" available under ~/.gvfs
