I had some problems explaining that they have to open the application and hit save there instead. So, it would be good if Thunar could at least create odt files from the right click menu. It already can: create a template file in ~/Templates or whatever the template folder is on your machine. Then right-click the target folder, click "Create Document" and select the template file.
Thanks, Jannis. Sounds easy but how does the template file have to look like? I couldn't find any documentation on this.
Thunar doesn't care about the content. Just save an empty odt file there and you're done.
