How about adding a "Paste symlink" option to Thunar's main pane context menu?
Comment 1 Nick Schermer editbugs 2012-11-07 10:32:17 CET
Its in the edit menu (create Link). In the main menu is not needed imho.
Comment 2 Charles 2012-11-07 14:53:49 CET
Edit -> Make Link doesn't work when a file has been copied.

For example, when ~/.bashrc is selected and copied, then /tmp is browsed, Edit -> Make Link is greyed out so cannot be used to create a link to ~/.bashrc in /tmp

This is one of the (few) things the Evil Empire gets right. So please, put it on the Context (right-mouse) menu -- when I want one, I'm usually pointing at the location I want to put it. And why not a shortcut (Alt+v?) as well. *Nix symbolic links are SO much more useful than the misfeature "shortcuts" on that other system, I use them a lot and this would really be helpful.
