I am using xfce 4.8 under Debian unstable. The placesplugin's version is 1.2.0-3. When I insert a usb stick it appears on the "Places" menu. When I select the usb entry Nautilus is launched instead of Thunar. This has the side-effect that nautilus takes over the desktop too, which sucks. If I click the usb icon on the xfdesktop instead, then Thunar launches as expected. Other menu items in the "Places" menu open with Thunar.
Likely fixed in release 1.4.0 (if that's the same bug as #8085)
