Created attachment 3608 shows current thunar and proposed UI changes for comparison i'm proposing that the statusbar should not span across both panes (shortcut/tree and context), because it's semantically only related to the context-pane and never to the shortcut/tree pane. it could simply become a child of the context-pane or another hbox underneath the context-pane. i added a mockup to show how it would look - obviously i think it looks great :) (this screenshot is also used for bug 7496, therefor not only the statusbar differs from "current thunar")
