Thanks, I can confirm this. Crashes are bad, so I increased the severity to major.
Small update. It seems to be some sort of conflict between our drag and drop handler and the default one for the entry. I will now investigate if the problem is specific to gtk 2.6 or not. What version of gtk did you use?

This is the weirdest bug I've seen in ages. I can only reproduce it at work running a windows X-server running Xfce on my home computer. It only seems to apear when creating the desktop entry, but the crash is somewhere else. I keep on searching...
I'm also experiencing this, in the same exact manner (though I'm trying to add to a basic launcher on the panel, not just a popup menu). I'm on a Slackware 10.1 installation with no other desktops/window managers installed.
I really can't find the problem. Any help or additional information is welcome.

No crash anymore, but many fields are not filled in when dropping.
As far as I can tell, this works now as expected.
