xine-ui can play .flac files fine, but since upgrading to 0.6.0 xfmedia cannot play them. xfmedia can correctly determine the playlength of these files, but attempting to play them results in a few seconds of silence and then a jump to the next track, without any progress on the slidebar. Occasionally, a single file will sit for a while longer. If this happens, xfmedia will become unresponsive and X will freeze - it doesn't seem to be a resource issue though, since I can switch VTs and kill xfmedia easily. I haven't had the opportunity to check top when this has happened yet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Get a .flac file - use grip to rip some off a CD for example 2. Open it in xine-ui - it plays fine 3. Open it in xfmedia Actual Results: Nothing played, the xfmedia UI hung Expected Results: Played the file xine-ui 99.3 libxine rc 7
odd, i'm not sure why this would happen. i'd say libxine is at fault here, but i don't know why xine-ui would play it fine if this is the case. could you try with xine-lib 1.0-final as well? i'll try to look into this tonight or over the weekend.
i'm not able to reproduce this. i had a random 44.1kHz/16bit/stereo wave file on my HD, which i encoded with default options with "flac file.wav". playing back the resulting "file.flac" in xfmedia works fine for me.
My .flac files play fine! I'm using ubuntu hoary's latest packages.
indeed. unreproducible.
