I'm using xfdesktop with GNOME. I have disabled desktop of GNOME (on the nautilus preferences). xfdesktop doesn't start with auto starting. But it can be started manually. Workaround: I made script and add it to auto starting: sleep 4 xfdesktop This might be relate also how GNOME auto starts applications, but every other applications I have started with auto start works.
Can you still reproduce this problem (or do you still care) in 4.10.x?
