Totem opens the WMV File fine in XFCE DE, but not parole.
More details probably?
What would you like to know? Is there a log that parole creates? All I did was open a WMV file and a pop-up error said that there was no appropriate Xv to output to. Yes, I have WMV Support enabled, because totem can play them fine.

Are you able to play other video files format with Parole? do you have compiz fusion enabled? what is the CPU usage percentage when playing video in Totem?
(In reply to comment #3) > > Are you able to play other video files format with Parole? do you have compiz > fusion enabled? what is the CPU usage percentage when playing video in Totem? 1. Yes, I am able to play at least OGG/V, I have not tried AVI, MPG, MP4, MKV, etc. 2. I do not even have propietary drivers enabled because I no longer use compiz, no need for that eye-candy. 3. I no longer have a WMV to test it on, sorry. So I cannot test the CPU Usage anymore.

I wanted to see if the rendering are done in the CPU and not in the VGA, anyway please tell me your setups (distro, version, ...) so i can try to reproduce it here, since i'm able to play wmv without problems. Thanks.

Ubuntu 9.10, using xfce4 metapackage, no propietary video card drivers, using medibuntu codecs: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683 32-bit / x86 version of ubuntu.

Use xubuntu lines for installing. Use mini.iso for base install of ubuntu before installing xfce4 metapackage.

Okay download it from here http://aliov.org/files/parole-dbg_0.1.99-1_i386.deb Remove the previous installation that you have before installing, after you finish debugging you can remove parole-dbg and install the normal package. It works now. Okay, for the 0.2 stable release there will be a command line to use to disable xv support. parole --xv=false and then it should work for people with not xvideo support.
