My TODO list is often rather long. It would be nice if the small calendar window (the first window in Orage) were resizable so I could see a longer list. Right now, the window border that would normally resize the window actually moves it instead.

not a bad idea.
I took a quick look and it seems that this is not so easy to do. 
Will consider.

This was actually easier than I thought. Need to do some fine tuning,but looking
good now.

This is now in GIT. Fixed in Orage 4.7.4.11
Also added code to remember the size.
