Since version 4.6 Xfdesktop is unusable with VNC. That's because vncserver doesn't support RandR extension. So: no desktop, no icons, no Xfce menu, settings manager doesn't work... Please do something about it, VNC+XFCE 4.4 was a perfect combination! Now it's totally useless on VNC... As far as I can see RandR support is not going to appear in Debian variants of VNC, so don't count on it.
Er, xfdesktop doesn't depend on randr at all... what exactly are the problems you are having? "It doesn't work" is a pretty useless bug report.

Well, I have Debian squeeze server running non stop. I start vncserver from ssh session and then connect to it via vncviewer. In my ~/X11/Xsession I have /usr/bin/xfce4-session which starts XFCE automatically on vncserver start. It all worked very well till I upgraded to XFCE 4.6. Now: - I don't have a desktop (no background, no right click menu) - XFCE Menu disaapered from panel and it can't be added back - fonts are no longer antialiased - when I try to start xfce4-display-settings I get a message: "Xlib extension "RANDR" missing on display :1.0" - I get the same message when I try xfdesktop --reload
The randr warning is just that -- a warning. It's not your problem. This isn't a bug, or at least isn't something we can or should work out on bugzilla. You have an upgrade problem. I'd suggest discussing this on a mailing list where more people can easily be involved, including your distro's packager.
