Everytime I log in to XFCE via KDM I get the error message "Could not look up internet address for my_hostname. This will prevent Xfce from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding my_hostname to the file /etc/hosts on your system." When I click on continue I get to the Xfce-desktop and everything works normal. This message appeared first when I startet my computer several months ago without having a working internet connection. This was long before the update to Xfce 4.6.1.
So... did you do what the error message says?
No I did'nt because I have full functionality. Its an error message that reports an error which does not occur here. I think this should be fixed regardless of the possibility of making it to disappear on my machine.
No, it's an error message that indicates a problem that can cause your xauth data to get set up incorrectly (which makes running apps on the display fail). Just because the symptoms haven't manifested on your particular system doesn't mean it's not potentially a real problem.
I updated to 4.6.1 recently and didn't see the bug since. I would not mind to close this bug report.
