Created attachment 2279 screenshot of issue Hello everybody, I use thunar, on a system that does not use the xfce desktop and uses feh and a plaintext configuration file to manage the backgrounds. I use debian unstable for testing, and when I upgraded from thunar 0.9.0 to 1.0.0, there is automatically added a new item in the right content menu... (see screenshot) the addition of this item is unwanted. Would it be possible to not add this item to thunar. I like thunar to be a desktop independent GTK+ file browser and not connected to a specif desktop environment. $ dpkg -l | grep thunar ii libthunar-vfs-1-2 1.0.0-2 VFS abstraction used in thunar ii pct-thunar-scripts 0.1.0-1 collection of thunar custom action scripts ii pct-thunar-scripts-setup 0.0.20081208-1 little program to manage your thunar custom action scripts ii thunar 1.0.0-2 File Manager for Xfce ii thunar-data 1.0.0-2 Provides thunar documentation, icons and translations Thanks in advance for removing thunar-wallpaper-plugin and making it a separated plugin and separated installation package.
Is there any news about this issue, I got lot of people complaining about this because my systems don't use xfce4-desktop and the plugin shows up but doesn't do anything which is logical. Why not make it a custom action that can be removed... I don't think its good practice to just do stuff that has great impact in the way users experience there GUI, please try to mail the thunar-dev mailinglist when these changes find place so we can discuses them... now there was never a the possibility for a discussing about this features it just came dropping out of the air... Best regards, Jelle de Jong
I agree.
I don't think we're going to remove the plugin in the near future. But it should probably not show the wallpaper action if neither xfdesktop nor nautilus are running. That's a different issue though. It's not a custom action because it does a bit more than just running xfconf-query.
