running xfmpc using libmpd-0.18 spams status->idle->status the idle part most likely comes from libmpd (haven't found it in the xfmpc source). not sure if there's a way to disable the idle part in libmpd but either way, it'd be nice to actually use the idle feature and wait until the MPD notifies about status changes instead of disabling idle and resending status immediately
In fact I don't have status/idle messages in any of my mpd logs. In which file do you see these messages? Do you enable a specific option in the MPD configuration? I have both libmpd 0.15.0 and 0.16.1, but not 0.18. It would be cool if somebody can make the test with 0.15 and 0.18.
you'll see it with verbose logging and I doubt libmpd-0.16 already supports idle, not sure about 0.17
I can confirm idle is introduced since 0.17.
Another way to fix this would be by porting xfmpc to libmpdclient. gmpc upstream (who is also libmpd upstream) does the same, so libmpd will be deprecated as soon as gmpc is ported. For the libmpdclient vapi feel free to steal [1], but please tell me if you have any problems/fixes, the vapi is mostly untested. 1: https://github.com/cmende/libmpdclient-vala/blob/master/vapi/libmpdclient.vapi
i'm trying libmpdclient-vala, thanks for letting me now.
