It's quite a shock to me at how _nicely_ the XMMS2 framework / daemon plays music. I've been a die-hard MusicPlayer Daemon fan for years. However, there's a simple but very effective 31-band Graphic EQ available for XMMS2 that has my ears *tingling* and happy! http://exodus.xmms.se/~nano/eq.py and a screenshot at: http://exodus.xmms.se/~nano/eq.png I was feeling curious as to whether or not either 1) Xfmpc could be extended to become a dual-backend client: for both the MPD and XMMS2? or 2) whether there could be an EQ Plugin Module developed to sit between MPD and the MPC (in this case, Xfmpc)? I've been 'making do' with LXMusic today, and while it PALES in comparison to the great job done with Xfmpc, it gets the basics right. It would be lovely if Xfmpc could bring the world of XMMS2 to the Xfce Desktop Environment in its usual pragmatic and friendly fashion. Best, Leo
That would need significant changes in the overall sources. Don't except such a feature very soon, but it should be possible to have an interface for two backends (whatever you call it). About the equalizer, you better forget that idea.
Cool! Thanks for responding so promptly. I was really doubtful about the EQ as thats probably lots of hard work (otherwise it would already exist for MPD, no? :-) ) I hoped merely to plant the seed of the idea, and make myself available for recruitment (although I'm supposed to be working on Thunar Docs, I'm still learning about that application, mostly by reading up on it and using it). Still I am having heaps of time in the next few years (Disability) and adore Xfce. I should have kept in touch but I'm sure you'll let the appropriate folks know. As will I make the effort to remind them. Best! FLACvest
