You can only remove custom actions. IMHO this is simply a design decision, not a bug.
Comment 2 Masato Hashimoto 2009-02-09 19:23:00 CET
If the 'custom action' means user added action (application), it's also unremovable.

In addition, I learned to enable "Remove Launcher" menu temporary by the following steps and also found that if there is only one custom action and remove it, "Open" button in "Open with" dialog becomes grayout and seems to be not able to apply removing completely.

Steps to enable "Remove launcher" menu temporary:
 1) Add a custom action.
 2) Open "Open with" dialog again.
 3) Select the custom action.
 4) Open "Use a custum command" textbox (just open, no edit) and click "Open" button.
 5) Open "Open with" dialog again.
 6) "Remove Launcher" menu on the added custom action is enabled. (but the removing process does not seems to work correctly. removed actoin is reappeared later)

Yes, user defined command is what I meant by custom action.

Cannot reproduce that here.

What do you mean with "later". It doesn't happen here even after I quit Thunar completely and then start it again.

Can you remove a custom action normally?

Really (?_?)
Well, if you can remove custom actions normally, of course that will be not reproduced the same as me...

Sorry, not later. A custom action is removed from "Open with" dialog at that point but actually the definition is not removed from ~/.local/share/applications/default.list on my environment.

Actually, before to report this issue, I asked on online forum about it. One user answered me he/she has confirmed it the same as me (and thought me later that the steps to enable "Remove launcher" menu temporary. He/She also confirmed custom action isn't removed completly by that steps).
Therefore, I think this issue occurs not only my environment...

That doesn't seem to be the case on my machine either. I think the most important thing is that the desktop entry created by Thunar is removed from ~/.local/share/applications/ because then the custom action will not appear in Thunar anymore. Does that not happen for you?

Mein Gott ;(

Yes. I mean... first of all, "Remove launcher" menu is usually grayout on any custom actions on my environment. So I think if the menu becomes to be enabled, these my (confused) issues will be cleared.
I will examine who teaches Thunar a lie.
Comment 7 Masato Hashimoto 2009-02-11 07:50:33 CET
Well... At last I understood the meaning of the "custom action" exactly.
I thought that the custom action includes actions chosen from "Other applications" tree on "Open With" dialog so far.
Sorry for my misunderstood.
But, I think Thunar's manual should describe each differences and removable actions are only added by "Use a cunstom command" (currently is not easy to understand). In addition, I think actions added from "Other applications" may be able to be deleted.
I will report about them as feature request including ui at a future date.
Thanks.
