This is so because there are some folders which I want to view sorted-by-time (for example, inboxes of things to process) and others which I want to have sorted alphabetically (lists of commonly used files, say). This can be done currently by changing the sorting mode. However, this change affects all the new thunar instances I will open (i.e. it is global). I'd like to be able to tell thunar: "I want this specific folder to be sorted by time, and keep it sorted by time each time I open it", even if for the rest of the folders I generally use alphabetic sort. Cuestions to ponder: 1. Does anybody else find this useful? 2. Could this be extended to other folder properties (zoom level, etc.)? 3. Should it? (I suppose that, in the end, what I am aiming towards is a semi-spatial mode... But let's leave that for another thread.) Reproducible: Always
Hello, I would like to agree that this feature is a missing one. There certain folders that need to be sorted by date (e.g. downloads folder), others by name (e.g. default) or maybe by file-type (e.g. when working on a project with many files, some of them generated). Of course it is very inconvenient to have to change these settings every time that you visit a folder. They should be remembered. And I agree that the best way is to explicitly remember the settings (e.g. a checkbox under menu View->Remember Settings).
I would like to see this feature implemented too
