In 4.0.6, when you put a list of backdrops it's not clear (there is no info text for user) how these are displayed. I mean that there is no info about: 1) When new backdrop is selected (from the list) for displayed 2) And what's the order in what there are selected I think that it's a useful think for the new user. Parallelly, I think (and it's the enhancement properly) that in the backdrop options we should have the possibility of select: 1) When the "next" backdrop will be showed: by session [each session started, one backdrop displayed] by time [display next backdrop after x seconds, y mins, z days] 2) How is choosed the "next" backdrop from the list: by the position in the list [the first backdrop in the list, first; the 2nd backdrop in the list, second, ...] randomly alphabetically I think it could be great, but perhaps it implies much code rewrite. So I mark to that with low priority. Plus, there is no essential needed. Thanks in advance and sorry for my english, Xan. PS: In the URL, I comment this enhancements with many others
Perhaps this could serve: http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?t=1205 In this URL one user offers a cron code for displaying backdrops periodically. It's a particular case of these bug, but perhaps it could serve, although I think that anyone that programming this bug maybe not use cron, instead of read the system clock periodically. But, you are the programmers and you know what you serve. Xan.
In Xfce 4.4 you can already set a list of backgrounds. This feature request is about setting a change event, which can be on login or time based. Something for the future (thunar-desktop)?
Time-based wallpaper switching has been implemented in xfdesktop4.11 (and it should be fairly clear now in what order the wallpapers are switched through).
