The notification windows when mounting and unmounting devices do not show anymore. Unfortunately i have no indication which change caused this behavior. I use thunar-volman 0.1.3 from 20070523. Thunar 0.8.0 and exo 0.3.2 are compiled with hal and notification support. I use the notification-daeemon-xfce 0.3.2.
When I use notification-settings from notification-daemon-xfce to set the window position, the preview button is showing me the test window but only once, then the preview button is disabled. When I start notification-settings again I can use the preview button again but only once.
It seems that i only get a notification when i unmount a cd/dvd, with usb-sticks and external usb-harddisks i got no notification at all. Before i got a message every time i mount and unmount a cd/dvd and usb-storage devices.
Ok, messages when unmounting devices are working, don't know why they did not appear at the beginning. Is it possible to get messages when mounting a device too or is this feature not available anymore?
I can confirm that the mount notification windows don't show up anymore. Unmounting and warning messages (`still writing data') work as expected.
Mass reassign. Nick, please check these pending reports. Thx.
I think that the lack of notification has to do with whether notification is enabled when thunar and thunar-volman are compiled. Notification is working fine for me. Anyway this bug is *very* old, and should be closed.
I have never checked it, but maybe the mount notifications have been removed, because the mounting process is now more exposed in thunar (spinner widget), or because the message is not important enough. The unmounting notification is also only visible for a very short time (certainly not readable). Long time ago, who knows? I will close this bug now, though if anyone feels it needs to be reopened, feel free do so.
I just checked on 4.10, and notifications don't work well there. Of course, the notification that is problematic is the "don't pull the plug yet", and having it disappear quickly if the cleanup is done quickly is not a severe problem. My main machine is running 4.12 on Fedora 21, and notifications work much better there. However, I'm running a version of thunar-volman that has a patch in it. Anyway, feel free to close.
