I think I disagree with this being a bug. The selection in the tree view side pane and the active directory are not linked together. Right-clicking always changes the current selection in other parts of Thunar (e.g. in the icon view) and never jumps back to before when closing the context menu without clicking on any of the menu items. IMHO it should stay this way.
