So when I forget to manually set an alarm, then I don't get a notification, and miss the appointment. So I could rather keep using postits. I think the best would be to add a setting for the default alarm time. Meanwhile, I just patched orage to set the alarm to 3 minutes if no alarm was set during the creation of a new appointment. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create an appointment 2. don't set an alarm 3. wait for the appointment's time - no notification appears
Created attachment 1295 set the default alarm time to 3 minutes if no alarm was set
I hardly ever create new appointments, I almost always copy an old appointment and get alarm from there. Could you use that as a workaround? Everything else has defaults, but alarm time so the patch is valid, but I bet somebody then files a bug that there is default alarm always and they do not wish to see that. So to build this enhancememt properly, we might need a new default setting for alarms. Somebody wants audible and different sound or window type... For me a BUG is something that works differently than planned, so I classify this as an enhancement, but it is a valid one. I will implement it somehow to 4.5 Orage. Thanks for the idea!
Yes, the patch was not meant as a solution, but as an example how to get a default alarm if someone has an urgent need for it (like me).
This is now in Orage 4.5 svn trunk revision 25946. New appointments have now alarm set to 5 mins before the start time. I may do the whole alarm default template later...but it is different than this enhancement.
4.6.0 has default alarm, which can also be modified.
