User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070603 Fedora/2.0.0.4-2.fc7 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: I have gotten a report of problems with the 4.4.1 Xfce linked against gtk2 2.11.x. causing keyboard/mouse events to get dropped, making the desktop unusable. See the report from the fedora bug here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=243735 Installing the older gtk 2.10.x seems to work fine. Any ideas what the problem could be? Or what additional information would be helpful to track things down? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. have gtk2 2.11 installed. 2. login and use alt-tab to change focus 3. then use the panel task manager to change focus. Actual Results: Mouse and keyboard input stop. Expected Results: Focus changes and keyboard and mouse still work.
Never heard of such a problem but I'm not using rawhide myself (gtk2-2.10.13-1.fc7). It could be a problem with key grabs. Is it a tickless kernel? And what about gnome-panel's taskbar (ie libwnck) with xfwm4, does it exhibit the same problem?
The good news is that I can reproduce it, and that xfce 4.2 is not affected.
Cool. Glad it's easy to reproduce. Let me know if you would like me to have the Fedora reporters or myself test any patches or provide more info.
Ok, metacity suffered the same problem and was modified. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354213
Created attachment 1188 Patch that fixes the hang with gtk+-2.11.x I believe the following patch (committed both branches) fixes the issue.
I have spun up some fedora devel packages with this patch applied. http://www.scrye.com/~kevin/fedora/xfwm/ I have asked the folks who are seeing this issue to test them and confirm that the patch fixes things. Thanks for the quick fix! If this does fix this issue, I would say it's worth a 4.4.2 release...
I have a report that this patch does indeed fix the issue. Just FYI.
FYI, you may want to take a look at this one too: #3359
>FYI, you may want to take a look at this one too: #3359 Yep. Just got a report of that this morning. ;( Any news of a 4.4.2 release? I guess I should just push patches for this and 3359 out for now.
I also had the same bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12666 I will now try the patch - as 4.4.2 is not available on my gentoo portage tree
Daniele: <drac> Can't login to bugzilla right now, but someone with access there could reply to him it's fixed in Gentoo version 4.4.1-r1
has this patch been applied to trunk as well? i still have frequent lockups with the svn co... (so not the 4.4 branch)
Yes, it is in trunk.
