All the icon in the Setting Manager but Brain's Terminal and xffm's icon are missing.I not sure if it's something I did when installing xfce(first time using a cvs build) or if you all are changing how icons are used. I used Benedikt install for xfce(to test).
it's eduard's terminal, actually... anyway, probably an icon theming issue. couple questions: where do you have xfce installed (as in, your prefix)? what's your gtk version? and finally, do you have a $prefix/share/icons/hicolor/index.theme file?
Sorry my head was not screwed on right when I called it brian's terminal(was compiling brian's music player at that moment). So don't send eduard after me :) Anyway 1. Prefix is /usr/local 2. GTK is 2.4.4-5mdk 3. index.theme is there,if you need it i'll upload it. Also sorry if I posted stuff in the bug tracker that I was not suppost too, never used anything like this before. If you want my index.theme file ask i'll upload it.
hmmm. ok, that's odd. it should work properly then. at any rate, i'm hopefully redoing all the icon theming this weekend (to properly support gtk 2.2 and below), so perhaps we'll eliminate this bug along with that. about bug reports - don't worry about it. if you think it's a bug, report it. we may not agree, but that doesn't make you wrong for reporting it in the first place.
Thanks kelnos. Can't wait to see what you do with the icons,i'll recompile xfce next week,if I get time(college starts this week). And report back if it's still not working. Update:Got icons now. between my original post and my first reply I decide to compile xfce from cvs by hand(I used benny's installer before). Then right after I posted this message I logout and log back in and I have icons. I updated libxfcegui4 libxfce4util libxfce4mcs gtk-xfce-engine-2 xfce-mcs-manager xfce-mcs-plugins I have a simple question. How do you all keep xfce up to date on your computer.Doing "./configure && make && make install" on 15 odd packages takes a lot of time. edited on: 08-22 08:11 edited on: 08-22 08:11
icon theming should be mostly fixed now. if you still have problems, please open a new bug (and be as specific as possible). as for updating xfce, i rarely do the entire thing at once. i just do bits and pieces as i need to for dev work. since i mess with the source tree almost daily, this isn't a problem. i believe i've seen people post to the mailing lists some scripts they've used to compile xfce from cvs. give it a search.
