Picture of what is going on, http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=112863
Downstream bug, http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170336

Basically, if you add Actions to panel and switch it to double buttons, called Quit+Lock..

- It appears vertical on horizontal panel. Wrong way around.
- It appears horizontal on vertical panel. Wrong way around.
- Icons are so small, and you can't see them. They don't scale.

So i've written a patch to address this issue, please review and apply.

Thanks, drac

This is not a solution. The orientation is is correct, but, as you have seen, not useful on smaller panels. There are two things we can do to solve the problem, as far as can see: either we can make it configurable, or we can make it switch automatically when the panel is below a certain size.

We can make the configurable one in both the 4.4 branch and trunk, since the words orientation, horizontal and vertical are already translated. Isn't it?

If so, please let me know, because there will be a 4.4.1 bug hunt day tomorrow (yeah, spare time!).

A well, I've added a configurable option and merged the (already existing) strings.

Fixed in revision 25301.
