User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: If one right click on a folder on the right panel ( the one where files are also displayed ) and on the left panel ( the one which just show folders ), one will receive different menus. This is very annoying, because the same folder should not have different menus on different panels. Even more annoying because the user configurated actions are not displayed on the folders on the left panel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. right click on the left panel 2. right click on the right panel 3. check the diference between the menus Actual Results: The menu on the left panel is inferior compared to the menu on the right panel Expected Results: I receive two different menus for the same folder Show the same menu for the same folder, whichever menu it appears. This should also happen with folders buttons on the location bar.
This is by design, simply because many actions don't really make sense in the shortcuts/tree pane (i.e. "Extract here" in the shortcuts pane raises the question "where is 'Here'?"). Probably something for 2.0.

There's no DnD operation, we're talking about the context menu, not the DnD menu (which already has Extract Here btw). > In MS Windows, for example, all folders have the > same context menu everywhere, and it does make > sence, maybe more than this "a different context > menu per pane" philosophy. It's no philosophy. It's a simple decision. > And user requested actions should at least have > an option to be shown on the other panes. That's not possible with the current implementation, and it's too close to final to change that. > One application that I wrote, TreeSize for Unix ( > http://treesize.sf.net/ ), would make a lot of > sence in every pane of Thunar. And just because something is done like that on Windows, KDE, GNOME, whatever, doesn't mean that it makes sense, is convenient, etc. Just like the fact that you/me may think that XYZ should look and feel like ABC doesn't mean that XYZ = ABC or even XYZ != ABC. > What do you think ? > Marcos Diez Benedikt
Hi again! I checked the three pop up menu panes. As you mentined, none of them have the "Extract here" item. I still ask myself why you mentioned it as an example, since it's not there and it would actually be interesting it this context menu item was everywhere. Anyway, here are my results: Left Pane Right Pane ------------------------------ Open Open Open_new_window Open_new_windows New Folder Send To Cut Cut Copy Copy Paste Paste Del Del Rename <User Actions> Properties Properties I agree with you that not all actions fit everywhere, ( create a subfolder, for example, does not make sence on the right pane ) On the other hand, rename, <user actions> and send to do make sence on both menus, don't you think ?
