With Xfce 4.4 getting closer its probably too late now to integrate the search functionality into thunar-vfs and Thunar. Instead, the simple search tool should be imported for 4.4, so people can atleast search for files, even tho its not that convenient.
does integration with t-vfs break anything relying on it in 4.4 (xfdesktop, xfburn)? Either way any kind of search is better than the current situation(IIRC it was the #3 most requested feature after samba and trash support among ubuntu users)
It'd add to much new, untested code, and besides that it's not even half finished. So, right now, for an RC2 that's not doable. A simple frontend, with flexible backends (via external commands) should do for 4.4.
