User-Agent: Opera/9.01 (X11; Linux i686; U; en)
Build Identifier:

selecting properties of the filesystem displays free space of the partition but goes off calculating the file "size" of all the files in the file tree.

While either partition usage or total file usage would be valid, mixing the two seems inconsistant.

The free space is not the total free space

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.select File System
2.alt-return
3.

Expected Results:
either partition usage/free or system usage/free or clearer labeling perhaps "free space on /dev/hdxx"

Dude, don't just file bug reports for questions or unclear implementation details. The "free space" is the space available to the user on the partition where the file resides, taking into account quotas, etc. It's the correct number, because that's what is available to the user exactly.

"Free space" + "du -hcs /mount/point" will never be "Total size" of the partition because file content is only one thing that takes up disk space. There's also inodes and inode tables, etc.

Please use the mailinglists for these kinds of questions. If people then agree that it's indeed a bug or a missing feature, a bug report can be filed. Bug right now - I'm sorry I have to say that - you are spamming bugzilla with questions that really belong to the mailinglist, and other people don't even get a chance to dive into the discussion.
