The problem is when you begin to type a file name and thunar founds the exact file that matches, it completes the path. But if you're not looking at the scren at this moment, you write too much letters. For example, If Y type Ctrl+L to have the location window, then '/' 'h' 'o' 'm' 'e' I get "/home/ome" written on the window because the completion was made just after the 'h' letter. I think it should be like Nautilus does, that is when the completion is made, the inserted text is selected, then if you write others letters, these letters replaces the inserted text (if you don't notice the text is inserted). Hope I am clear Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a thunar window 2. Type Ctrl+L 3. Type the letters '/' 'h' 'o' 'm' 'e' Actual Results: You are about to open the folder /home/ome Expected Results: It should be the folder "/home" Using Ubuntu Dapper Drake Thunar 0.3.1svn-r21789
Looks like a bug. Which version of GTK+ do you use?
(In reply to comment #1) > Looks like a bug. Which version of GTK+ do you use? gtk 2.8.17-1ubuntu5 thunar 0.3.0+r21789-0ubuntu2 sorry for the delay, my mail reader wouldn't want to give me my mails for serval days.
I just tested with 2.8.17, but works properly here. Maybe Jani has seen this as well?
works fine here, with latest xubuntu dapper and thunar.
I can't reproduce this bug anymore ... I close it :) (and sorry for the noise)
Sorry, I reopen the bug, it happen again ... :( i tried to compile the last snapshot of thunar to see what's going wrong, but I failed, the autotools complains about /usr/lib/libXrender.la (file does not exists). I'll try others versions ... Apparently, somewhere the programm fail to select the remaining part of the path (the completed one). Something interresting : the problem happens only with the Ctrl-L box, not when I use the path toolbar. Maybe this is useful.
Hm, the location entry and the location dialog use exactly the same widget with exactly the same settings. My guess is that this is some weird GTK+ <-> Thunar, but I haven't been able to reproduce that.
It's really wierd. I tested this with another xubuntu distribution ... it worked. In my computer, sometimes it works, sometimes not. I don't know what to do, you shouldn't care about this bug, apparently, it happens only on my computer. Maybe i can help to resolve this bug but I don't know how.
Resolving to LATER then for now. Reopen on-demand.
Moving to 2.0.0final.
