The default thumbnail zoom in Thunar is very small (compared to other file managers). The small thumbnails of Thunar is maybe useful for distinguishing between types of files (ex. distinguishing images from videos) but not useful for identifying the file itself. The problem is more evident in higher resolution displays. I know they can be zoomed by pressing ctrl++ but that zooms everything and icons like the folder icon gets too big. In Thunar folders are much wider and gap between files/folders are also larger. So zooming the view to enlarge thumbnails means much less files gets shown. Thumbnail size can be individually tweaked by many file managers including Nautilus. I looked online and didn't find anything like that for Thunar. Please increase the default size only for thumbnails or consider adding an option to give users the customizability.
Created attachment 9889 Windows 7 file manager showing some movie thumbnails (brought as an example)
Created attachment 9890 Even at 200% zoom, Thunar's thumbnails are still smaller compared to the previous example but the view occupies more space.
Created attachment 9891 At 300% zoom, folders got way bigger.
