Similar to the easy access to panel profiles from panel preferences, it would be good to have the opposite, with easy access to click a button in panel profiles to open panel preferences. One major reason is that if you apply a panel profile, it will close panel preferences if it was open.
Moving to correct component: xfce4-panel-profiles.
I have a simple idea. When xfce4-panel spawns xfce4-panel-profiles (in this function[0]) we can give a command line argument to the latter. Then when the user closes xfce4-panel-profiles, if it has been launched with this command line argument is reopens xfce4-panel. What do you think? I can write an implementation, but I need to modify xfce4-panel code. [0]: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/tree/panel/panel-preferences-dialog.c#n1082
Created attachment 9820 Open xfce4-panel on close button (bug #16505) This is my proposal. To work I need to modify this function on xfce4-panel source code[0]. I am working on a patch also for this package. [0]: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/tree/panel/panel-preferences-dialog.c#n1067
