Usually a USB key or disk is MS-DOS partitioned and mounted volumes can be unmounted via the "Unmount" option in the context menu of the volume. Now I have an external hard disk which is partitioned by LVM2. It's still possible to unmount mounted volumes as usual. But the volume groups are staying active when I unplug the device. The second option "Eject" is greyed out, probably due to the existing and active LVM volume groups. My suggestion is either of: - (preferred) release the concerned volume group(s) and then release the device via the "Eject" menu item - Add another menu item (e.g., "release LVM volume group 'xyz'") for that special purpose. Only visible if applicable
The release command on the CLI: `vgchange -an my-volume-group`. Also, I forgot to mention that closing the luks container should be considered (`cryptsetup close cryptroot`).
Thanks for reporting ! I would be ok with your preferred solution. Though I neither have time, nor I have the hardware required for testing. So patches would be very welcome !
Maybe I'm missing something, but may I ask what does tumbler has to do with this?
(In reply to Ali Abdallah from comment #3) > Maybe I'm missing something, but may I ask what does tumbler has to do with > this? I guess nothing. Is it mentioned here ? Probably you are on the wrong bug :)
Oh my bad, sorry, it is for some reason assigned to me, I was searching for tumbler bugs and this ended up in my list for some reason. Probably we should assigned to the Thunar maintainer.
(In reply to Ali Abdallah from comment #5) > Probably we should assigned to the Thunar maintainer. Uh, damn, that would be me .. done :)
