Created attachment 9117 Demonstration of bug Hi! I found bug with selecting icons at desktop. Steps to reproduce: 1. Drag any icon 2. Drop it in its place (i.e. don't move it) 3. Release the mouse button and move mouse Result: the selection area has appeared and is expanding. OS: 5.3.1-arch1-1-ARCH x86_64 GNU/Linux
Does it happen every time you try this scenario? I failed to reproduce it on both Arch and Ubuntu 19.10. However, I do have an inconsistent issue with selecting icons on the desktop of my Arch system. It's been a few weeks since the last time I noticed it, but I'm pretty sure it was marking a selection area instead of selecting a single icon. Moving an icons wasn't involved. It's coming and going, and I didn't find an exact scenario to reproduce it.
Yes, it happens every time. Maybe you have other version? I have next pack: >xfdesktop 4.14.1, runned at Xfce 4.14. > Builded with GTK+ 3.24.10, compiled with GTK+ 3.24.10. And another important detail: you can’t move the icon outside the border of its area (where it is located), otherwise the bug will not be played.
Yes, this detail is indeed important -- it now reproduces both on my Arch and Ubuntu machines. It could also be the root of the issue I saw on my Arch laptop, maybe I was moving the icon after clicking it.
Created attachment 9122 patch The attached patch should eliminate the described issue.
Just tested the patch. Can confirm it fixes the bug.
