After a brand new installations on two HP laptops (intel i3 and i5, both x86_64), without any modification to parameters, the PC go to standby after 5 minutes without use or when closing the lid (expected). There is no way to resume : the screen stays black, and pushing the power button shuts the computer down. Keyboard keys or touchpad are not resuming. I disabled all entries in /proc/acpi/wakeup without any change, apart that I had a console opened on tty1. When a console is opened, I manage to get it back with ALT+CTRL+F1. The X console (tty7) displays a warning saying that the desktop will soon be redirected to the unlock screen, but it never appears. I then re-enabled the entries on /proc/acpi/wakeup, and the functionning stays identical. It's really the console being opened which allowed me to wake up the computer. Work-around : set the parameters of power management to "standby" (and not "lock screen"). The session then resumes, but locked.
I forgot : installation of XUbuntu LTS Bionic Beaver.
