Add Trash Applet to panel.

Single click on the Trash Applet icon.
1 window opens.
Close the window.

Double click on the Trash Applet icon.
2 window opens + 1 dialog ("Failed to connect to the Trash")
Close the windows and dialog.

Double click on the Trash Applet icon.
2 window opens + 1 dialog ("Failed to connect to the Trash")
Double click on the Trash Applet icon again.
2 window opens + 1 dialog ("Failed to connect to the Trash")

I can only close the last error dialog if there are more then once.
Both the button, the X in the title and application menu Close will not close the dialog... unless it is the last dialog.

The error dialog seems incessesary since the 2 windows both opens the trash.

I can only reproduce this issue after terminating the Thunar daemon process. Did you somehow disable the daemon?

How do i check/terminate it?
Try clicking the trash applet icon a lot of times very quickly.

It seems the icon changes to a red ! if you click it really fast like it is a waiting icon because it is already in the process of opening a window and then if you click the icon when its red ! it gives the error dialog.

I also see this red ! in short flashes if i scroll the mouse when i hover the cursor on the trash applet icon.

So i guess its trying to tell the user that it is currently in use.
If that is the case then i suggest making the red ! not clickable.
And maybe make it a animated wait icon instead of the red ! or maybe not change the icon at all.

Does the process "Thunar" appear in the list of running processes? Terminating it with "killall Thunar" should usually respawn it the next time you open a new window.

I see it with ps -A | grep Thunar and can kill it with killall Thunar.
And it stays if i click the trash applet icon to open Thunar and after closing the window.
But it does not stay if i open Thunar from the application menu and close the window.

So i guess clicking the trash applet icon runs with --daemon and the .desktop file does not (it runs Thunar %F).

I test in VirtualBox with 1280 MB RAM for Xubuntu so maybe the slow system state can more easily cause it. Maybe you can try making the system slow by opening applications that use lots of RAM and use the CPU a lot and click the trash applet icon quickly a lot.

If i click 10 times quick i can get 10 Thunar windows and 8 error dialogs.
