Hello! Whenever I change a directory in File Manager (thunar) it's thumbnail in window button on xfce4-panel changes too. This is distracting and when compared to other application thumbnails, incoherent. Worst, at times, I have to double check the thumbnails when I am moving cursor to select File Manager since the previous mental image of the thumbnail doesn't match with the current one. I find it quite annoying. Please take a look at this screencast: https://i.imgur.com/K18691S.gifv Now, I understand for some this might be a genuine feature but at least can we provide a way (file location) to make the File Manager thumbnail in window button on xfce4-panel static/constant? Thanks!
The dynamic change of the window icon was introduced long ago. See: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=16ab778bb7fd307f7ac35715a33283494373bce6
Can we have the option/switch to let user pick what they want? No other application changes it's thumbnail except thunar. This is inconsistent behavior. At the very least, can we please provide an option/switch?
Nemo and Caja actually change the icon also. Nautilus does not, see: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/commit/e479c004f9c8d95588954ea316f7bcb471a68d2d I guess I would vote for a (hidden) option.
> Nemo and Caja actually change the icon also. Yes, you are right. I just confirmed it. > I guess I would vote for a (hidden) option. Thank you! A (hidden) option to select the static (generic directory thumbnail) or dynamic thumbnails.
However, I am not the maintainer of Thunar. If we can a Yes for this feature request, then providing a patch would certainly help to get it implemented.
A hidden option would be fine for me. Actually I as well would prefer a static icon. As Theo said, a patch would be welcome ;)
Meanwhile that one got fixed :) Will be release in thunar 1.9.0 / 1.10.0 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 16501 ***
