Hello.
Today I tried to change the color of the folders on the desktop. Did not work out. Then I decided to change the colors in the parent directory and it also failed to do. A tick against the desired color appears only for a few seconds.
I'm sorry to trouble you.
I translate English into Russian with the help of Google translator.

Not sure what you want to do.

You changed the icon theme and it did not work ? As far as I know, there is no possibility to change the colors of specific folders .. you only can change the whole theme, which will change the color for all folders.

But after all colors of folders do not change at all. And developers can add the ability to change the color of each folder separately? It will be very convenient than reading the folder name.

Only possibility that comes to my mind is the folder thumbnailer: https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/tumbler
Check the section "Customized Thumbnailer for folders".

Like that you can put different pictures into each folder, which will be used as thumbnails.
Would that be an option for you ?

Nothing helps. I do not know what to do, how to update the file manager, maybe it was fixed?

First make sure thumbler is installed on your system. ( eg "sudo apt-get install thumbler" on debian / ubuntu )

Like described in the WIki, create a config for the folder thumbnailer into
/usr/share/thumbnailers/folder.thumbnailer

Put a script which should be launched into: /usr/bin/folder-thumbnailer
make it executable "chmod +x /usr/bin/folder-thumbnailer"

Put some picture, e.g. folder.jpg into some folder for testing .. you should see now the picture on the folder

Best reboot the system to make sure that thumbler takes the folder.thumbnailer into account

Reply here if it worked / if not

I don’t know what to do with this package in the repositories. Why not do it right away so that everything works out of the box right away without problems .....

Well, if you dont want to use the workaround, I am sorry.

Thunar does not have such a feature currently.

I reopened an old request for this feature and will close this one as duplicate.
