Not sure what you want to do. You changed the icon theme and it did not work ? As far as I know, there is no possibility to change the colors of specific folders .. you only can change the whole theme, which will change the color for all folders.
But after all colors of folders do not change at all. And developers can add the ability to change the color of each folder separately? It will be very convenient than reading the folder name.

First make sure thumbler is installed on your system.
