Other simple text editors in my earlier distributions (Fedora-3) save the original file with an ~ character appended to the original file name if the file was modified and saved. This way I could always go back to the immediately preceding version to see the changes I made. My understanding is that this feature is not available in Mousepad. I looked at bug 7615 but did not understand the meaning of it.
